Ways You Can Get Involved!

We have over 40 dingoes right now in care at our sanctuary. Would you like to make a donation?

Foster Care

While the majority of our dingoes are housed at our 100 acre sanctuary, we do sometimes have dingoes in need of patient, experienced foster carers for dingoes in need to more 1 on 1 specialised care.

Because dingoes are typically very timid animals and bond very strongly with their carers we are only able to consider foster carers who can make a commitment to foster for 3-6 months or longer.  Preference will go to foster carers ultimately considering dingo adoption.

We prefer foster carers homes where 1 adult will be at home at least 50% of the week to spend time with the dingo. Stay at home parents or people who work from home make ideal foster carers.

Fencing requirements for foster carers are similar to our adoption fencing requirements. Low content dingoes foster carers will need at least 1.8m secure colourbond/paling fences. High content dingo foster carers typically require a dingo enclosure of 2.2m sheer fencing or higher.

Because puppies are very rehomable we do not typically foster them out.

We cover all veterinary costs for foster carers as well as providing supplies like crates, bowels, toys and bedding. Day to day costs such as food and treats are the responsibility of the foster carer. We do sometimes have donated dry food which foster carers can pick up from our main sanctuary; this should be used only to supplement a diet of fresh, lean meat.

Volunteering

Do you have what it takes to join our pawsome team of volunteers?  We are looking for new volunteers who can make a monthly commitment to help out at our shelter, now located 40min from GOULBURN or 60min from CANBERRA (in the Tarago/Bungendore area).

The role involves cleaning enclosures, walking, feeding and grooming animals. Shifts are 10am-3pm, weekend and weekday spots available.

We can also help TAFE and Uni students (Vet and Vet Bioscience) to meet placement requirements for animal related courses!

Note: a car is required for this role, volunteers must be 18yo and over, animal experience is preferable.

We do not release the location of our sanctuary except to successful applicants, this is for the safety of our vulnerable animals.

We are no longer based in Sydney and due to distance (2-3 hours), we cannot take on Sydney based volunteers.

Email: SFDRvolunteering@gmail.com for more information.

TAFE and University Placements

Did you know Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue can supervise you for your TAFE or Uni volunteer placements? We currently supervise veterinary, veterinary bioscience, companion animal studies and captive animal studies students.

We are always incredibly grateful to have volunteer placement students and have had students from all our Australia come and volunteer at our sanctuary.

Want to volunteer with us? Please email SFDRvolunteering@gmail.com for more information. Please note we are a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and 60min from Canberra. A car is required for this role. Onsite accomodation available for students.
